Switched phones, and now I can't recover my script.

DubScript on phones

Long story short, I've transfered all my apps and data over to a new phone. No, I do not use an iPhone. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find my saved script anywhere on the app. There's also no "recovery" option- at least not one that I can find. Tried updating my app, and still nothing.

For your security and…

For your security and privacy, DubScript is designed to save scripts only on the device you are editing to the location you have selected (plus the recovery backups on the device)-- unless explicitly directed otherwise (via the Share button, or by directing it to save to a cloud service like Google Drive).  So on the original device, you can save a copy of the script to the cloud by holding down the Save icon, then choosing a new format (if you like).  Then you'll be asked to choose a save location-- you can choose a location on Google Drive for example (if you have the Google Drive app installed) or any other cloud device you trust.  Now go to the new phone and you can open the file in the same way using the folder-shaped Open file option-- chose the file you have saved to the cloud and you can continue to edit (saving updates to the cloud service) or you can save a local copy.

Another way to migrate is to use the Share button in the edit/Write screen to create an attachment of your script in an email, text attachment, etc. You can then send it to yourself.

For more info on all this, see the Help & Info section in the app itself.  Of course, since the scripts are plain text files, you can also copy/paste the script into an email or text message to yourself (for privacy, consider a text messaging app such as Signal Messenger).

If you don't want to use the cloud in any manner, Android itself allows you to move files around directly from phone to phone.  And take a look at the Files app. You could plug a USB flash drive directly to your phone and move multiple files to it-- or if your phone

In short, you have quite a lot of ways to backup and transfer your scripts to a new phone. Hope this is helpful! Definitely check out the Help & Info section for more tips.

One last note- your saved…

One last note- your saved script files themselves are located-- wherever you chose to put them in your first phone's file system. So you have total control over where the files reside. If you're not sure, and you don't want to use (perhaps the simplest) copy/paste method to save to a new location, you can locate the file via a search in the Files app (and depending on your settings a general search using the main Google search bar should work as well). You can also find the location by going to Help & Info, then it should display the save destination (which may also be off-device in a cloud service if that's what you choose) along with other stats about the script (word count, character count, etc.).
